Growing up an only child, Christmas was always big and filled with so much love and lots of tradition. I've tried to keep the same thing going with my own family. While gifts are an important, its even more important to remember the REAL reason for the season and they love it! So much that my 4 year old insists that either him or the 2 year old sleeps in a manber (manger) on Christmas Eve *deep sigh*. I think its cute and sad all at the same time!
In with the whole "Jesus is the reason for the season" thing, my parents decided to do a nativity scene. How cute, right? Well yeah but my dad SPRAY PAINTED a white doll and made him black. He's a preacher. I'll let you run with that for a while! LOL! My 4 year old said to me "wow!!!!!!!! This is gooder than our house!" I guess my little lights, Santa and reindeer with the sleigh doesn't make the cut. It certaintly didn't get past the cool kids club.
Other than decorations, we usually have a family Christmas party along with another gathering (usually Christmas Eve) and an even bigger gathering on Christmas day for breakfast and dinner. I look forward to this. Family, food and so much fun! Who'd want to miss this?! This year is a little different. We're going to spend 4 days in NY with my husband's family right before Christmas. This is gonna be an interesting experience because, in case you missed the memo, my husband's aunt and I do not get along. Pray for me!
With all the food, gifts, and drama I do was you and yours a VERY merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. I hope and pray that your children (and you) get the things that you wanted, even some that they (or you) didn't expect. I hope and pray that hearts are filled with joy and smiles cross faces, all while remembering the try reason for this season.
PS, that tree is the tree thats in the kids playroom.
